Hello everyone,

I am looking to upgrade the GPU and CPU in my HP desktop system, but I am currently limited by my factory 400W power supply. I need help finding the exact HP spare part numbers for compatible 600W or 800W proprietary power supplies that will fit my chassis and motherboard layout.

Here are the exact specifications and part numbers from my current configuration:

 My Current PSU Part Number: N97955-001 (Regulatory Model: PA-3401-3HB)

 Specs: 400W, 800 Plus Platinum

 Motherboard Connectors: My system relies on the modern proprietary layout consisting of one 7-pin inline connector (PWRCMD) and two 4-pin square connectors (CPU power).

 My PC Product Number: 462D4AA

Could anyone please provide the official HP spare part numbers for the 600W or 800W power supplies that share this exact same 7-pin + dual 4-pin motherboard connector configuration?

Yes, I can assist you with locating compatible higher-power supply units to upgrade your 400-watt (p/n: N97955-001) power supply. Based on the available information, your PC is not compatible with an industry standard 24-pin ATX power supply, based on the presence of the proprietary 7-pin "P2" power connector.

 

Btw, the PC product number: 462D4AA you provided, does not yield a result in HP's PartSurfer.  If you could provide the following information: type System Information in your lower Windows search bar, click on the System Information app, and look to the right of: "System Model" and "BaseBoard product" and provide that information.

 

I think this 700-watt power supply with p/n: P02281-001 / PA-5701-1 / L04107-001 is probably compatible, but I need additional information in order to ascertain that.

 

It would also be very helpful to provide a link where your PC is shown, including a picture of the PC's rear.

 Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 8400F (65W TDP)

 Current PSU: 400W (N97955-001) with 7-pin "PWRCMD" (P2) + dual 4-pin CPU connectors

Given that my BaseBoard is the 8D31, could you confirm if the 550W PSU (⁠M86264-001⁠) or the 700W PSU (⁠P02281-001⁠) is the correct drop-in fit for this layout?

The challenge I am facing is that there is very little information/guidance available online for this newer PC platform -and it is not clear to me what model PC your Grady motherboard is placed in.

 

To the best of my knowledge, based on the specific pinout configuration pulled from your CPU-Z log and your current unit, the 550-watt power supply with p/n: M86264-001 appears to be compatible with your system as it is built on HP's "ENT22 5x12V" power architecture. It features the exact same proprietary 7-pin management pinout configuration and standard 12V logic topology, making it an identical physical and electrical drop-in replacement.
 
I cannot tell you at the moment if the 700-watt PSU is compatible or not.

 System Model: HP OMEN 16L Gaming Desktop PC (Model series: TG03-0251ng BaseBoard Product: 8D31 (Grady Motherboard)

 Factory Installed Power Supply: 400W (p/n: N97955-001)

(I have attached photos of the front and rear of the 16L TG03 case below so you can see the rear cutouts and backplate footprint).

I will go ahead and order the 550W power supply (p/n: M86264-001) for this upgrade.
