So about a year ago I upgraded my GPU and RAM for my Omen 25L. I swapped out the 1060 ti for RTX 3060. I also upgraded my RAM to DDR4 RGB PRO 3200 and my processor is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics. Over the course of the year, I noticed that some of the high end games just aren't working as well with my GPU. I would like to upgrade my GPU to the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D but I'm not sure if its compatible.

If it's not compatible, what is my next best option?

@DWall16,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Looking at over 1,500 fellow HP OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-1xxx platforms fitted with the Hana motherboard (SSID: 8876) -assuming that this is what you got, there is no indication that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is compatible with your platform.

However, there are three compatible processor upgrade options available: Ryzen 7 5700G, Ryzen 7 5800X, and the Ryzen 9 5900X.  The first option also has a 65-watt TDP like your current processor, the other two have 105-watt TDPs.

Meaning, if you upgrade to one of these 105-watt TDP CPUs, you'll need to upgrade your CPU heatsink/cooler as well, such as the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE CPU Air Cooler.  This is a dual-fan tower air cooler with strong thermal dissipation and quiet operation, well-suited for 105-watt CPUs in mainstream mid-tower PC like yours. The dimensions of this CPU cooler are: 125(L) x 135(W) x 155(H) mm -check if this will fit in your case.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
