HP Stream 200-009 Mini Desktop PC
Linux

Hello,

I'm looking for owners of HP Stream 200-009 Mini Desktop PC who successfully upgraded device memory. I recently got few modules of KVR16S11/8 which is a 2Rx8 PC3-12800 RAM which must be compatible, according to the product page info. I also have two 1Rx16 PC3L-12800 one of which is original 2GB module and another one is 2GB module from other PC.

The problem is that when I try to use 2Rx8 PC3-12800 device doesn't boot, only beeps. When I put in 1Rx16 PC3L-12800 everything works just fine. I am trying to understand is this because device doesn't accept double rank modules, or because memory banks power is limited to 1.35V (PC3L) and 1.5V modules (PC3) aren't accepted? In case of latter, is this something that can be configured with jumpers on the ColtC motherboard or maybe BIOS settings?

Thank you.

Hi

sorry, you might be waiting long enough!
The product page, as you may have seen, just says this

  • Dual channel memory architecture
  • Two DDR3 DIMM sockets
  • Supports DDR3 DIMMs
    • PC3-12800 (1600 MHz)
  • Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit* systems

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-stream-mini-200-000-desktop-pc-series/7538679/document/c0458...

  • Amount: 2 GB
  • Speed: PC3-12800 MB/s
  • Type: DDR3-1600

The module does not work, you are probably in the right path, it is incompatible, for one of these reasons may be
But do not look for nothing, because there is certainly no way to change it from the bios and even less with the jumpers on the motherboard
Use the modules that are compatible, without breaking your head

Documentation says "DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600 MHz)" so as my modules, yet they do not work. So which are compatible? 2GB is related to the shipped amount of memory, not a compatibility.

i just tell you to use the same modules if this works

but unless you mean, that
origin only ok
other module only ok
both do not work
you need to get two perfectly identical modules, that may be your problem!
