Hi.
I have an old HP desktop computer that came with a 2ghz dual core and only 2gb ram. I have bought and installed the maximum 8gb ram it can support but i am looking at upgrading the cpu as well. The mohterboard is a foxconn 2abf and im told it can support a core i7-2600. Does it matter if it is quad core or can it only be dual core? Are there any other changes i need to make ie a bigger cooling fan or power supply? I was also thinking of buyin a graphics card such as an nvidia GTX 480. Are these upgrades possible or even recommended?

Welcome to our HP community forum!
Your HP Pro 3500 Microtower (D5T07EA) as fitted with a Cupertino3 motherboard (SSID: Foxconn 2ABF), can be fitted with both 2nd and 3rd gen processors, including all the way up to the 95-watt TDP i7-2700K and the 77-watt TDP i7-3770K.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
