Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0009 (3LA48AA) with a Lincs motherboard (SSID: 843B), according to: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-690-0009, can be fitted with any size M.2 NVMe SSD, even 4TB -whatever your budget allows.
The Lincs motherboard is fitted with a Gen3 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD slot, and Gen4/Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSDs are also backward compatible but will run at Gen3 read/write speeds.
