Hello, so currently I have a Tg01-0023 HpPavilion Gaming Desktop and I’m trying to upgrade my gpu and I’m wondering if the ASRock RX 6600 8GB ClD challenger D ddr6 is compatible with my gaming desktop. Currently I’m using the same PSU from before which was prebuilt and brought to me so I got no clue about the watt of the psu. If it is compatible can your recommend me a psu that is compatible with that gpu. If not are you able to help me find another gpu below the 600 price budget for both gpu and cpu? (I have little to no experience in this)

@Xervn1027,

The ASRock RX 7700 XT Challenger OC 12GB GDDR6 is a 245-watt TDP card, and requires a 600+ watt power supply, and this card has a length of: 266mm, so it would fit in your case.

The XFX Speedster SWFT210 Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB GDDR6 is also a 245-watt TDP card, requiring a 600+ watt power supply, but its length is 284mm, which I believe would not (or just barely) fit in your case -thus, not recommended.

There is a compatible 650-watt power supply available for your PC if you want to go this route, with p/n: L57253-003 / L36049-003.

You can purchase one of these 650-watt power supplies online, such as via this trusted eBay Seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/365730450269?_skw=L57253-003&itmmeta=01K48MVMAA99Y98QR6T36KEQPR&hash=item55....

Personally, if high definition/res gaming is what you are after, I would not recommend an AMD card, but that is totally up to you.

Please check what processor you got.  As I posted earlier, I believe your PC got an Erica motherboard (SSID: 8643) fitted with a Ryzen 5 3500 processor.  If this is so, you may as well upgrade your CPU to a Ryzen 7 3700X.  You can purchase a Ryzen 7 3700X starting at around $80, such as this purchase option via a trusted eBay Seller: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.60GHz 8 Core 100-000000071 16 Thread AM4 | eBay.

@Xervn1027,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

All right, according to these specs, your HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0023w (6YR56AA) is fitted with an Erica motherboard (SSID: 8643), one 8GB DDR4 2666 MHz UDIMM RAM stick, powered by a 400-watt power supply and has a Ryzen 5 3500 processor.

An RX 6600 is a 132-watt TDP card and requires one 8-pin PCIe power cable and can easily be powered by a 400-watt power supply -which has one 8-pin PCIe power cable, assuming that you got a 400-watt power supply.  And yes, an RX 6600 graphics card is very much compatible with the TG01-0xxx platform.

So, for starters, I want you to remove the side panel and take a close look at your power supply's label and tell me what it says what the wattage and/or the part number is.

Kind Regards,

I’m going to assume that it is 400 Walt due to the fact it said 400W and the Port number is 942332-001.  I also wanted to add on to the fact that I have a 1 tb storage and a 32gb ram

Let just say I change my mind and I wanted a MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 12GB 15 Gbps GDRR6 192-Bit HDMI/DP PCIe 4 Torx Twin Fan Ampere OC Graphics Card Or ASUS Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 V2 OC Edition 12GB GDDR6 Gaming Graphics Card (PCIe 4.0, 12GB GDDR6 Memory, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, 2-Slot, Axial-tech Fan Design, 0dB Technology)

Will those gpu be compatible or is there a better/similar alternative that had came out between 2023-2025. Are you able to help me find one. Also do I need to upgrade anything else in order to match my pace for those gpu such as cpu or psu? If yes please tell me.

thank you

@Xervn1027,

An RTX 3060 (170-watt TDP) which was first released in February of 2021, has a recommended 500-watt minimum power supply requirement. The MSI RTX 3060 model costs around $300 via Amazon.

I would strongly recommend going for an RTX 4060 card (released June 2023), which has a much lower TDP (115-watt) and can easily be powered by your 400-watt power supply, such as this quality ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 V2 OC Edition 8GB GDDR6 purchase option for $270 via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-DisplayPort-Axial-tech-Technology/dp/B0DHJDQPC9/ref=sr_1_13?crid....

You do not need to upgrade anything else at the moment.  An RTX 4060 card will give you a very significant graphics performance boost.

Now that your talking about it I’m considering about buying this gpu however, I still have one question which is the fact that if there is any other available “gaming gpu” that you recommend that is compatible with my desktop

I also wanted to add on to this gpu called

ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT Challenger 12GB GDDR6 192-bit 0dB Silent Cooling 7680 x 4320 DisplayPort HDMI LED Indicator 18Gbps Dual Fan Graphics Card

will this be compatible if yes which psu would I need in order to use that and is there any upgrade I need to do?

Thank you

Well, I found another similar gpu called

XFX Speedster SWFT210 Radeon RX 7700XT Gaming Graphics Card with 12GB GDDR6 HDMI 3xDP, AMD RDNA 3 RX77TSWFTFP  and I’m not sure if it is compatible. If it is which one is better the ASRock one or the XFX one? Also can you recommend me a psu or cpu that I need if I do need to upgrade it.

thank you
