I been wanting to upgrade my PSU since i got a new graphics card, i need to switch from a 180Watt to a 500Watt, i wanted to ask: my proprietary P2 connector has only 3 wires, is it fine if i upgrade to a psu that has more than 3 wires on the connector?

Your HP Desktop - M01-F0037nl (9HF34EA), as fitted with an HP Milton motherboard (SSID: 86E9) and a 180-watt power supply with p/n: L08660-800 "Power Supply - GNRC PSU 180W Entl18 SFF FR Gold": please verify.
According to this link, you could upgrade your power supply with either a 400-watt power supply (equipped with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable) with p/n: 942332-001, or with a 500-watt power supply, with p/n: L05757-800 (equipped with one 6-pin PCIe and one 6+2-pin PCIe power cables).
You should be able to purchase any of these power supplies online, such as via eBay or AliExpress.
And yes, the 400- & 500-watt power supply upgrade options will have a different P2 power wiring.
Hope this was helpful.
