HP Pavilion p6520f Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My desktop has 6 GB of RAM, I'd like to add more.  I purchased four sticks of 4 GB memory "DDR3 PC3-8500 DIMM/1066MHZ 2Rx8 1.5v"  Additional info on the A-Tech sticks says they're 6521 AA 5514 L/H445/V.  I purchased these sticks after looking at the compatibility info on the HP Customer Support pages.

When I installed them it didn't boot up and gave beeping noises instead.  DId I purchase the wrong memory?  If so, what do I need to buy instead, if not, what do I need to do to fix it?

Thank you.

It is unfortunate that matching the published specs is generally a gamble.

The best way to upgrade memory is to buy the memory from a vendor who guarantees compatibility with a PC or notebook. That will avoid the trial and error  gamble method of matching memory specifications that you have experienced.

I suggest Crucial memory. See the following URL.  Click on the more compatible memory section.

Thanks.  I ordered new memory sticks from Crucial, by using the link you provided.  They arrived today and were installed, all is well!
