Upgrading Ram A6040n

From help that I got in another thread on this site, I figured out that I can upgrade the processor in this computer to an Intel E6700.  But, I have now decided that I want to upgrade the RAM, too.  I'm not sure if I should now be putting a different kind of RAM in the computer (than what's in there already) because I will have a totally different processor.  

based on the label on the RAM in my computer, I have:

Hynix 1GB PC2-4200U-444-12

From reading the owner's manual of the motherboard, I notice that I should only install non-ECC RAM.  

But, the manual also says that the motherboard can support DDR2 667 MHz Ram.  But, I am not sure if that works with the better processor that I plan to install.  If I would like, can I stick with the current RAM type?  Can I/ do I have to switch to the better RAM?

Hi:

The Intel 945 chipset your PC has, can can run the memory at 667 MHz, so you would definitely want to replace and upgrade the memory to PC2-5300 (667 Mhz) to have the memory run at the fastest possible speed it can.

The PC2-4200 memory slows the whole works down to 533 MHz, even with the Core 2 Duo E6320 processor you have in there now.
