HP 280 G3 Microtower PC

Hello, good people!

I'm using the HP 280 G3 Microtower PC, which has a 4GB Samsung Ram inside, and I want to upgrade it. I'm wishing to install Twinmos 8GB DDR4 2400MHz ram in the empty slot, which will make my PC have a total of 4+8 = 12 GB of ram. I was wondering if the two rams would work together or not. As two are from two different brands, and I heard something about maintaining the clock speeds of two different RAMs on the same PC. I don't know much about PC hardware, and I'm expecting your thoughtful opinions in this regard.

@muntasir05,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

First some RAM facts. The maximum RAM that can be fitted in your HP - Compaq HP 280 G3 Microtower is 2 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM, 288-pin RAM sticks.

You could install faster RAM speed sticks, say 3200 MHz, but it will down throttle to 2400 MHz.

Now to answer your question. Of course, 12GB (4GB + 8GB) is better than the original 4GB. Your desktop's performance should likely improve.

The RAM you referenced is compatible with your PC.

Just be aware that for best RAM performance, identical RAM (same brand, model and capacity) is highly recommended.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
