I would like to add an additional SSD drive to my existing 256GB SSD drive. I have spent some time reading other posts about replacing the existing drive which is not what I want to do. To my knowledge, I need to get a 2.5 SSD drive that can be mounted to the plate that holds the optical disc drive. There is also an additional SATA cable in my unit that is not in use.
My questions are:
Is this additional SATA cable able to be used to plug in to an additional SSD?
Do I need to purchase another 4 pin/8 pin power cable? I am not sure about what power cable needs used to plug into the SSD.
Does my motherboard contain an open port for an additional powercable that can be used for the additional SSD?
______________
Or could I for-go all of this and use the cables from my optical disc drive?
I am a tech newbie so any help will be great.

1) The power cable from the DVD drive does have an unused SATA power plug. (15 pin standard).
2) You will need a SATA data cable (7pin is standard) from the drive to the motherboard. Just look at the existing SATA data on the motherboard that goes to the DVD drive. The other SATA data header next to it is for the hard drive.
3) Here is how to mount the 2.5" drive.
