Hello Community!

I am currently debating on upgrading my HP Envy 750-624 to a 1070 vid card.  Any suggestions on what will be required?  Because I am not that savvy on hardware, I am just looking for suggestions to get a price for the items I need and will most likely have the products installed by someone better qualified. 🙂

Thanks!

I don't think you'll be able to without replacing the power supply.  That card requires a 8-pin power connector and your system power supply does not have any GPU power connectors, thus your card will have to run off the PCIE slot.  Also due to space requirements you will probably need a MINI (or Low Profile) card.  You can get a Zotac GTX 1060 Mini card and power it with a (high quality) SATA to 6-pin adapter and not have to change your power supply.  This is the only card I have tested in such situations (using SATA to 6-pin is workable for some 120 watt GPUs that pull most power from PCIE and not 6-pin, but NOT recommended).  Or you could get a Mini or Low Profile GTX 1050 TI or similar GTX 1650 and power it off the PCIE slot.

If you do go the GTX 1060 Mini route: do not overclock, buy a quality SATA to 6-pin cable (modDIY), and replace mechanical HDs on the same SATA power line with lower power SSDs.  Stress test the system and don't leave on unattended for the first week or so as you want any failures (melting cable smell) to be in your presence.

Good luck!
