Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to upgrade the Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125 Single Band 2.4Ghz (b/g/n) Wifi Adapter in my old Pavilion 500-164 desktop.  It has a single antenna wire connected to the "1" post.

I did some research and I purchased HP WLAN Broadcom BRCM1068 802.11ac 2x2 BT 4.0 Mini PCI-E Card (HP Part # 724935-001) on eBay.  However, the single wire connected to my current adapter has me questioning whether this replacement adapter will work.

Do I need two wires for this to work on both 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz?  Or does the two wires support a different functionality? The description on eBay states: "2 antennas to support 2(Transmit) 2(Receive) diversity technology and Bluetooth"

Hi:

The BCM card should work on both bands with one antenna wire which you connect to the BCM Wi-Fi card's 'Main' antenna terminal.

What you may not have would be Bluetooth reception.

I believe that is why two antenna wires are needed.

The PC recognized the new Wi-Fi adapter and eventually installed new drivers for it.  The Bluetooth drivers were also installed and Device Manager shows that to be working properly as well, although I haven't tested the Bluetooth functionality yet. Thank you for your help!

You're very welcome.

I don't know what driver W10 installed but these are the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers HP has for that model Wi-Fi adapter.
