Digging through the basement, I uncovered my old HP ENVY Recline 27-k150xt TouchSmart All-in-One CTO Desktop PC.
Unfortunately, the hard drive is now toast. I would like to repair and upgrade it to Windows 10 (originally this was Windows 8.1).
I cannot find anything on the HP site to order a replacement for the drive, nor order restoration disks.
I know how to go about replacing the SSHD Drive, and will get Windows 10 Home software and license to install on it.
Everything else, as far as the testing shows, works fine.
My question are --
1. Is it worth it?
2. Has anyone else done this?
3. Will the original drivers work?

Hi:
I can't find any service manuals for that model.
The parts list below indicates that it comes with a 2.5" hard drive.
https://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=E7N94AV
I would replace it with a 2.5" SSD. If you can live with 500 GB of storage, this one provides the best performance for the price.
You can reinstall W8.1 for free by making your own W8.1 installation media from the link below.
Select the plain W8.1 64 bit ISO file download.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO
Use the Microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below that you will need to transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so that it is bootable, or you can use other free utilities such as Rufus.
After W8.1 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
After you get W8.1 installed and can connect to the internet, you can still get W10 for free by clicking on the blue Update Now button at the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
This link provides more info on still being able to get the free upgrade to W10.

So if you can figure out how to open up the PC to get to where the hard drive is, it is definitely worthwhile to fix it.

You're very welcome.
After you upgrade to W10, the audio may not work.
There are no W10 drivers on your PC's support page, but this W10 IDT audio driver from a slightly newer desktop PC should get the audio to work again. Restart the PC after installing the driver.
