Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm planning on upgrading my 2011 pc that has an i5-2400 and a GTX 1050 to i7-2600k, on HP's site it says that my pc only supports i7-2600 non-K but I want the K version not because its overclockable but because it give better performance. So why does it say that my pc only supports 2600 non-K is it because the fact that OEM motherboards don't overclock or is there a real reason? One more thing I'm running an old BIOS and I can't seem to find a newer version and I know that I will need to update it if I want to upgrade my pc so can anyone provide the best bios for that CPU? Also if someone can explain how to update the BIOS that would be great. Thanks in advance

Hi:

That is correct.

You can't OC the HP motherboard and I don't know of any other processors than those listed that will work.

I have two 8200 Elite CMT's both running W10 Pro 64 bit, i7-2600 processors, GT 1030 graphics, 240 GB SSD's and 32 GB of memory.

Since you are running W10 on there, do not update the BIOS beyond v02.28 or the PC will take over 2 minutes to restart from a warm boot.

You can find the BIOS updates under the W7 driver page and I recommend you run any update you plan on running using the F10 BIOS setup flash method.

None of the BIOS updates add support for new processors, and no Intel 3rd gen core processor will work with an Intel Q67 chipset.

Well I guess I will have to buy 2600 non-K or wait until someone that tried to put the K version in my motherboard reply... And about bios my bios is 2.05 or 2.15 I'm not really sure I need to restart my pc to check it and download the 2.28, well thanks for the help nontheless
