Hi, I have a omen 25L GT12-000A with a ryzen 5 3600 and a 87C3 00 motherboard. I am trying to upgrade my cpu to a ryzen 7 5800x but i dont know if it's compatible with my motherboard. On some pages i saw people saying it wasn't but in the hp page and in the hp virtual assistant it said more than one time that it was compatible. Can someone help? Thanks

Even if you install the most recent BIOS update HP has for your PC's motherboard the AMD Ryzen 7 5800x processor will not work.

If you install one, you will join the unhappy company of others who installed that processor in your PC's motherboard because they didn't come here first to ask if it was supported.

Be happy with the processor your PC has installed now, or upgrade to the Ryzen 9 3900 if you don't have that processor installed already.

Is it not compatible because of the bios version? Isn't there any way to turn this around? Bcs 4 cpus is a very limited number to choose from. Also I saw the motherboard could also be a Hana wich is compatible.

@Paul_Tikkanen,

You are absolutely spot-on: I checked and nothing exciting has happened BIOS-wise since April to widen processor compatibility.

Ok thank you for the replies. Is there a way to know what motherboards are compatable with the 25L case? I think that changing the motherboard and the cpu is still the best option rather than buying another pc

You're very welcome.

Please start a new discussion on that subject because I don't know the answer.

Yes, it might be a little less expensive if it is possible to do that, but don't forget to buy a motherboard that comes with a Windows product key encrypted in the motherboards BIOS, or you will have to add the expense of buying a new W10/W11 license and product key that will add another 100 or so Euros to the cost of upgrading.
