I should have asked this question earlier. What do I need to do before downloading Firefox? Its probably a dumb question...lol
I went to Firefox download website and I get the message " you're using an insecure, outdated operating system no longer supported by Firefox" appearing at the top. I click on that and the next screen is scrambled. Old IE is going to be the death of me. Not working with many links etc...😐

That is part of the reason I suggested installing Linux. Ubuntu Linux woul be a good Linux version to consider.
Linux has fewer hardware constraints and works well on older hardware. Browers like Firefox and Chrome work well on the Linux platform.

Then what exactly do I need to do? Do I need to uninstall anything first? I don't have any original discs for Vista or restore point or anything. Please tell me this is a simple task. I will have to check the Linux download website and go from there. I bet it won't work even though Linux has less requirements. The **bleep** IE is going to be the death of me. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks

I knew that Firefox quit support for XP and Vista, but I thought you could still download the latest working version.
Here is the link from a 3rd party website (which will be the only places you can find it), the final supported version of Firefox for XP and Vista.
https://www.filehorse.com/download-firefox-32/36446/
The actual file download button is the light green one on the upper right side of the page.
My mother is still using Vista and Firefox and has reported no issues with it.

Installing Linux is quite simple and yes, it will work. The nice thing about Linux is that you can try it from the USB flashdrive before installing it.
Your PC will have a second life and even do things quicker than it ever did with Windows.
Download it directly from Ubuntu. You will need to have an available USB flash drive to install it to.
The Ubuntu website is at the following link. Click on the download link to the right of the Community link. Ubuntu Desktop 18.04 LTS will be what you should consider using.
Watch the following video tutorial. There is no requirement to listen to the sound. It is a completely visual tutorial.
Another version which has more of a Windows-like user interface is Zorin OS. As long as you have RUFUS downloaded, the installation is the same as with Ubuntu.
You can download it at the following link.

Its me again. I clicked on the link for the older version of Firefox and the page is distorted. The layout is messed up and it's hard to figure out. There is no green button at the top. I'm not going to be able to do anything when most websites or links are unreadable due to IE. I have been using my phone to communicate with you because this website is one that is distorted . I kept playing around with it and was able to click on the link you sent but that comes up funky. Even if websites appeared normal I'm sure there would be a problem with downloads. I think I'm screwed.

OK.
Here's what I'm going to do...
I am going to zip up the Firefox exe file and upload it to my Skydrive folder, share the link with you and hopefully, you can download it from there.
I'll let you know when it is ready...

OK, the file has been uploaded and the shared link is below...

Download, unzip and install the file labeled Firefox Setup 52.9.0esr

OMG! I was able to figure it out thru the distorted web page from the first link you sent me. I am now sending this using Firefox 52.9.0 ESR . It was a few hours ago and at that time when I open firefox it told me I was using an old version of firefox, upgrade now blah, blah, blah. I played around with it and it seems to work better than IE. Now I have logged on to give you this message and when I opened firefox it did not have the message that this is an outdated version which is great. It seems to be working for now. My next move will be to try to upgrade to Windows 7 or maybe try Linux. You have been very helpful, I really appreciate your help. I may be back...lol
