I have an HP Omen 25L that has an LGA 1200 socket and a chipset H570. It currently has a core i5 10th gen CPU in it and I wanted to upgrade it to a core i9 11900K as that is listed as the most powerful CPU that is supported by my motherboard on the official Intel website.
I got the part, swapped the cpus, powered on the PC but nothing then happened, just a black screen and irresponsible peripherals. I then swapped back the cpu to the old core i5 and everything worked fine.
I then updated my BIOS to the latest version F.28 and then swapped the cpus again but same result as before.
I have no idea what the issue could be, my old cpu still works fine so I didn't damage any pins. Surely I didn't damage the pins on the new cpu. Unless it could be a defect?
I don't know, I need help on this, and customer support is too slow about this.

Below is the link to the product specs for your PC:

The reason the i9-11900K is not working is because your PC has a Dorado motherboard that only supports the following processors:
Processor upgrade information
- TDP: up to 65 W
- Socket type: LGA 1200

Oh okay, well that is strange, then I must have looked up on general cpu compatibility for the chipset/socket and not for the specific motherboard.
Thank you very much for the response, I will test it out and mark as resolved when it is fixed.

You're very welcome.
Yes, the Intel chipset may support other processors, but HP may impose limits on what processors their proprietary motherboards can support.
That is why it is important to find the motherboard specs (which isn't always easy to do) and see what HP indicates are the supported processors.

I agree with you , it is not easy to get all the details about the PC including the motherboard. I thought HP would put it right in my face the motherboard installed so I wouldn't have to dig into the hardware to find it haha.
But again thank you very much, now I have to take the walk of shame returning the CPU back for a 10th gen one.
