specs: 

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8400 CPU @ 2.80GHz

16 GB Kingston 2400MHz - (bios wont let me enable xmp)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
 
I was thinking of upgrading to a 3060ti and i7 8700k, would this be ok?

Upgrading the PSU would likely be a requirement. Check the specs on the GPU brand and model at the manufacturer.

 

 

Yes, the Intel Core i7-8700K (Coffeelake) 3.7 GHz, 6 Cores is compatible with the motherboard.
