Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding upgrading your computer. Superb description and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you check the product specifications and motherboard specs sheet of the computer?
For now, try these steps:
- Please check the product specifications of the computer from this link: https://hp.care/2ki9Vl5 (Compaq Presario CQ5320F Desktop PC Product Specifications)
Processor upgrade information
The motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Socket type: AM3
TDP: 95 watt
- AMD Phenom II X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb)
- AMD Phenom II X3 7xx/7xxe Triple-Core (Heka)
- AMD Phenom II X2 5xx (Callisto)
- AMD II Athlon X4 6xx/6xxe (Propus)
- AMD II Athlon X3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)
- AMD II Athlon X2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)
- AMD Sempron 1xx (Sargas)
Memory upgrade information
Dual channel memory architecture
- Two DDR3 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
- Supported DIMM types:
- PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)
- PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
- Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered

- Supports up to 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs
*32-bit operating systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
Motherboard specs sheet: https://hp.care/2IGYq5q
Going by the Amazon link, I am afraid 8GB of RAM may not be supported by the computer. I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush. I am also trying to save you some hard-earned money.
.Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response. It is paramount to assist you as you are a valued HP customer.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Thank you for the reply and for the help regarding upgrading my PC. I have checked the specs on the page you have given me. I have seen that I won't be able to upgrade the Graphics card unless I change the power supply. Is this power supply compatiable with my PC? https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Bronze-Certified-Non-Modular-CP-9020047-US/dp/B0092ML0MY/ref=sr_1_1?s...
In regards to the Memory, I did check the specs. They do seem to check out. They have the same specs listed in the information. The only difference is that they are 4gb instead of 2, or 1. My windows version is Windows 10 Home 64bt. So my PC can handle more than 4gb right?

You can not use the GT710 (released Jan 2016), nor any other graphic card manufactured after Aug 2012, because your computer will not support the required UEFIvBIOS found on modern cards. The last series that could use would be the GTX 660 or 670.
The Corsair CX500 would work with either card mentioned above, but the CX550 is only $5 more, and would supply some overhead.

Thanks for the information. Is this the right card you mentioned?
Is the power supply I mentioned in my last post before this compatiable?

The GTX 660Ti is OK, and your choice of PSU.

I have the same model (Compaq Presario CQ5320F Desktop). Every thing is stock except I have installed Windows 10 Pro ver 1903. Do I understand correctly that a GTX 670 is the best performing graphics card I can install? If I install this card will I need to upgrade my power supply? Thanks

I have a cq5320f running 1903.
Some time ago, I added a Radeon HD5450 card to the unit. It required me to upgrade the PSU despite my card being low profile.
Also, I also have 6gb RAM (of which Windows does see).
It does well considering it’s age.
If I have helped you, be sure to marking my answer as solved.
And feel free to send me some kudos!!
