HP ENVY 700-200 Desktop PC series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I own an HP Envy Desktop, the silver one with Band & Olofson speakers. The specs are as follows:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz

Ram: 8GB

Motherboard: 2B47 1.04

Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 745 4GB

I wanted to upgrade the processor and graphics card. I wanted to know if it would be doable with this motherboard. I am planning on adding a Ryzen 5 processor and GTX 1060 3GB graphics card. WOuld it be possible?

Thanks in advance for the reply

Hi

There are three possible motherboards used in the 700-200 series.

1. JasmineR

2. Memphis-B

3. Kaili

The i5-6400 does not match the specs for any of the above motherboards?

Please provide the specific product number usually affixed to the side of your chassis.

Hi

Thanks for the product number.

This is your motherboard. This was not listed when checking the 700-200 series MB options.

You can't install an AMD Ryzen in an Intel motherboard.

You can upgrade to an i7-6700.

Your MB has a PCIe Gen. 3 slot which can support GTX 1000 series graphics cards.

Measure along the PCIe x16 slot to verify the 1060 will fit. A single fan will be fine. Double fan 1060 may not fit in the chassis.

You have a 300 watt power supply. The 1060 3GB requires a minimum 400 watt PS and one supplemental PCIe six pin PS connector.

Thank you so much that really helps. One more thing, what sort of ram would be compatible with my motherboard?
