The i7-4790k only draws 4 more watts than the i7-4790.
HP indicates that the i7-4770 is supported where they do not indicate the i7-4790K or i7-4790 is supported, but that person installed the i7-4790K and it worked.

hi
HP ProDesk 600 G1 Tower PC Product Specifications
hi check this but for the moment
you have a tdp 84w processor
the k version is the unlocked model for overclock, and in 88 W
if tdp is not supported, will not work

Hi, @bladde
An adventurous soul went ahead and successfully upgraded his 600 G1 to an i7-4790K...

Thanks well seen @Paul_Tikkanen
apart from some temperature problems indicated, but as here it is the tower version, there is no reason that this should not happen without problems
So @bladde there's more than that

Yes, you can upgrade it.
Just make sure your PC has at least the BIOS version that other forum member had installed.
TDP...you can find that info from Intel at the link below...Thermal Design Power.
Intel Core i74790K Processor 8M Cache up to 4.40 GHz Product Specifications
Thermal Design Power (TDP) represents the average power, in watts, the processor dissipates when operating at Base Frequency with all cores active under an Intel-defined, high-complexity workload. Refer to Datasheet for thermal solution requirements.
There was only one heatsink/fan available for your PC, so you will have to hope it does the job.
