Hello HP Support members! I recently was given an old HP Pavillion desktop (P6-2022uk) that had been sat around in storage for while. Boots up fine, gave it a clean up to give it a bit more speed and then decided to stick a cheap graphics card in it and see what it could run, was hoping for Europa and the likes.
I bought a HP Radeon HD 7450, stuck it in and the monitor showed no display.
I am using the DVI-I port of the card and a DVI-I to VGA cable to connect it to my monitor, a Samsung SMS22A100.
I've upgraded the BIOS, but this didn't change my problem.
I've done a bit of research, to my knowledge the 300W power supply should be adequate to power it, the fan on the card even spins when the tower is powered on, and upon further research on HP forums this card is even listed as one that should work (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktops-Archive-Read-Only/Pavilion-p6-2022uk/m-p/5185859/highlight/tr...).
Do you guys have any advice? Or is the graphics card just broke?
Thanks in advance for any help given.

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
The 7450 should work if it is functional. A 300 watt power supply should be good to go.
I am assuming your monitor works using Intel integrated graphics.
Can you locate and connect a different monitor and try HDMI to the 7450?
Maybe try a different DVI/VGA adapter on the current monitor.

Hi,
Thanks for additional information.
I can't look at product specifications. The links in your link are unresponsive.
I see a DVI port and a VGA adapter.
I can't see what the other port is. It could be a HDMI port or a DisplayPort.
I don't know if DisplayPort was available when this graphics card was released for sale.
I only noted one HDMI port when reviewing your graphics card upgrade specs.
Sorry.

It is unfortunately a DisplayPort, I have plenty of HDMI cables lying around which would have made it easier to troubleshoot.
Thanks for your support.
Have inquired with the seller as to whether or not any of the other cards have been reported as faulty as he sells a lot of them.
Failing that I will have to buy another VGA/DVI-I adapter and see if that is the problem.
