re:  my total & complete ignorance about 'latency' (and these other specs)

Since unable to determine (even via HP Sales!) exact  RAM specs used in new pc

(awaiting it's availabilty);  I've referenced several various memory card vendors,

suppliers, even RAM manufacturers to provide specifics.  For 2x8gb, all advertise:

"PC4-25600, 1.2V,  SDRAM,  288-pin,  NON-ECC,  Unbuffered,  DDR4-3200MHz."

But then each differentiate on 'latency'??  Seems everyone has a different answer:

"CL16-x-x-x", "CL19-x-x-x", "CL20-x-x-x"  (even same CL's  have various 'ratings' in

the "x" spots)?  AND some say "DIMM", others "UDIMM".  How do I know correct.....??

hi

You will rarely find this type of information for hp computers, and perhaps other manufacturers!
You will mainly be given the most basic, and which is sufficient for many users..
This also works for other components such as graphics cards for example, while there are different characteristics

NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 (10 GB GDDR6X dedicated) with LHR

be aware that hp may use different memory models for the same computer, depending on availability

Your telling me!!  🙄

All this started when realized desktop only comes with ONE memory card (16gb) and although

know little, have heard many, many times "stupid to have ONE card vs TWO".  So since can't find

out exact card HP installed; once receive pc. will pull it out and add TWO of SAME cards (2x8gb).

Dozens of available 'fancy' cards (as low as $40-$55/pair1) state "compatible"; but then each has

variety of 'latency' specs (which I do NOT understand) whether it's "CL" spec or the "x-x-x" specs??

sorry i don't understand what you are saying..
but you can use software to check what's in place if you need to replace / add memory
Knowing that in many cases, it will be necessary to change the two modules

knowing that for some users / configuration, the difference will not be much noticeable
