@doug11155102553,

Welcome to our HP Community Forum!

Please verify, but your OMEN by HP Desktop PC 870-2xx -such as the OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-244, is likely fitted with a 24-pin uATX motherboard, which means that you can swap your stock (500-watt?) power supply with a higher-wattage PSU to meet the power needs of a high-end graphics card. As long as an upgraded power supply (equipped with dual-rail 8-pin PCIe power cables) AND the graphics card will physically fit (LxWxH) in your case, the only GPU limit as to what graphics card you want, is what you can afford.

For example, here is an HP OMEN by HP Desktop PC 870-2xx User who fitted an RTX 4070 (probably a smaller-sized, two-fan model), such as this one, powered by a quality 600-watt (or higher wattage) PSU.

[EDIT:] Given the monstrous sizes/dimensions of RTX 3080/4080 and up, size-wise you probably can't fit beyond an RTX 4070 Ti Super in your desktop, such as this model, powered by a quality 700-watt (or higher wattage) PSU.

Btw, you could upgrade your OMEN by HP Desktop PC 870-2xx up to an i7-7700K if you haven't done so already.

[EDIT:] Please note, that when you make upgrades such as what I suggested, you should consider also improving the internal (case) air cooling/flow by adding one or more chassis cooling fans.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
