Hi KMac109,

The operation you show on the picture is checkdisk (chkdsk). If your computer performs check on your disk too often, your hard drive may be damaged.

You can use Crystal Disk Info to check the health of your hard drive.

More generally, you always should backup important data to another storage unit (USB, Cloud)
