I just purchased a USB 3.0 internal card from Startech. I was hoping that I could use it in the Elitedesk 800 g4. But there is no 20-pin port on the motherboard to put this into. What do I do now? Is there a way to use it? IS there an adapter cable I can use?

@SusanTCI , welcome back to the forum.
Is your model the Workstation Edition; Tower; 35W, 65W or 95W Desktop Mini or Small Form Factor? Also, it would be helpful if you could furnish a link to their product.

Thank you for the additional information, @SusanTCI!
I would appreciate the model number of StarTech's card reader. A link to it would be even better.

@SusanTCI , I contacted StarTech's Tech Support using their Chat Live. Unfortunately, they didn't have the adapter in stock, but did give me a link to what you will need on Amazon:
This should allow you to use your card reader.

I looked at the elitedesk motherboard diagrams in this document and I don't even see a 9pin usb 2.0 connector.

Please let me know if I missed it.

@SusanTCI, I don't see a 9-pin USB 2.0 header listed, either. However, as I read the specifications, there should be 2 x USB 2.0 ports in the front panel and 2 in the rear. You may have to do what did recently with my motherboard. It only had 2-USB 2.0 headers. I needed 3 of them. I bought an adapter that allowed me to make 2 out of 1: https://www.amazon.ca/Header-Extension-Splitter-Connector-Adapter/dp/B075Q5KXZZ/ref=pd_bxgy_img_2/14...
It is working great! I would definitely check inside of the case to assure that you can find a 9-pin header before moving forward, however.
I have always been able to depend on the Techs at StarTech. They know their products and which products are compatilble. I hope my last suggestion works for you.
