Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop TG02-1020h
Microsoft Windows 11

The RAM that came with my Victus 15L stock was an 8GB DDR4 RAM, and I checked, and it was running at 3200 MHz.

Recently, I purchased some RAM on Amazon to upgrade the 8GB. I got a 32GB (2x16GB) kit, but when I plugged it into the PC, the RAM only runs at 2667 MHz. How do I get the RAM to run at 3200 MHz?

The RAM I got:

@iDrew2024,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

That is strange, because this Silicon Power RAM should run at 3200 MHz, as it appears not to be depending on XMP activation, and nowhere in the SP specs does it mention "Default" or "SPD" RAM speed.

One thing to make sure is whether Amazon shipped you the 3200 MHz 2x16GB kit with p/n: SP032GXLZU320BDA instead of the 2666 MHz 2x16GB kit with p/n: SP032GXLZU266BDA:

To verify what RAM product number(s) you got is to type in CMD in your Windows search bar, right-click on the Command Prompt app, and left-click on Run as administrator, and Yes if it asks for permission.

Then copy/paste/enter: wmic memorychip get devicelocator, partnumber

You'll get something like this, using my laptop as an example:

Let's do this first.

@iDrew2024,

If you don't care to troubleshoot this RAM, I wouldn't blame you.  HP computers are finnicky when it comes to RAM and achieving best RAM speed/performance.  According to actual Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop TG02-1xxx Users, here are three of the very best 2x16GB RAM dual-rank kit options guaranteed to run at 3200 MHz and offer best performance:

Samsung M378A2K43EB1-CWE 2x16GB, can be purchased via this trusted eBay Seller, for example: Samsung 16GB 2RX8 PC4-3200AA UDIMM Desktop Memory M378A2K43EB1-CWE | eBay
Hynix HMA82GU6DJR8N-XN 2x16GB
Micron 8ATF2G64AZ-3G2F1 2x16GB

@iDrew2024,

Look, I dealt with quite a few identical RAM issues over the past three years -and to make a long story short: chances are that your RAM is stuck at 2667 MHz.  Therefore, my strong recommendation is to return this RAM and get your money back.

Then either buy the Samsung RAM I referenced or even this affordable dual-rank 2x16GB RAM kit I know will work: Timetec 16GB KIT(2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz (or 2933MHz or 2666MHz) PC4-25600 CL22 1.2V Non-ECC Unbuffered ....
