Trying to upgrade the 5600G in my Victus to a 5700G but it gave me a TPM error and an option to reset the keys. Pressing no doesn't do anything and won't let me boot. Pressing yes doesn't work and leads to all sorts of other errors and endlessly looping blue screens or attempting repair prompts. BIOS and chipset driver are up to date. Help?

Final Update: IT WAS THE CPU/iGPU. I am not sure which as BeemerBiker's suggestions did not work for me but I just got the replacement I ordered and it was as simple as swapping it in and turning it on. Works great and no issues even after running a few benchmarks. Extremely dumbfounded to have gotten a bad CPU/iGPU but I guess it happens? Anyways, thank you BeemerBiker for your advice.

Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on. . Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.
You should see an image like the following.
Make sure you can pass diagnostics: disk and memory test.
Use F10 to get into bios and set the BIOS default. Press F9 or whatever sets default.
Make sure date and time are correct. Be sure to save settings when you exit.
Try booting into window safe mode. Once you get into safe mode bring up the device manager and look for processors and delete every CPU that is 5600G then reboot into normal mode.

Skip down to 'Enter safe mode from outside windows'. If f11 does not get you into system recovery then try turning the power on and off three or more times in a row.

Tried all of your suggestions. All the diagnostics tests passed, they were UEFI level so maybe not indicative. I can't boot into Windows recovery at all. Immediately met with blue error screen. Error code alternates between PHASE1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED and SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

Another update: tried the new CPU with another Victus 15L and it's doing the same thing, which to clarify is "Preparing Automatic Repair" while turning on and off repeatedly in regular intervals of about 5 seconds after wiping the TPM. This time no error codes are showing but that's probably because I didn't mess with / attempt anything else. Guessing something is wrong with CPU?

I tried the accepted solution there and a couple of similar things. Even using a USB with Ventoy and no other storage connected resulted in various BSOD errors. Throwing the 5600G back in works fine and everything goes back to normal. Very VERY strange for a CPU to pass diagnostics but be the culprit, but I did get a few kernal trap errors particularly under the aforementioned conditions which I read can be either memory or CPU related. Memory for both systems tested is confirmed fine so it must be the CPU at this point, I think. Still welcoming thoughts and suggestions but at the point of exchanging the CPU. If problems persist with another 5700G I would make a new thread for it.

I looked at the bios release history but there was nothing listed that made sense. Intel puts out microcode updates for new CPUs and HP incorporates the updates in the bios.
I had to use the windows sandbox to download and run your most recent bios update and after saving the results into c:\swsetup there was no release history unlike the normal Intel bios updates.
If you want to see if the latest bios fixes the problem ---
Check your warranty and decided if you want to risk a BIOS upgrade like these unfortunate users did

Are you suggesting it is a BIOS issue? Seems odd since I know these machines support the microcode for the 5700G, also reflected in the fact they power on and can get into BIOS and pass diagnostics. These are AMD CPUs by the way. One Victus I have has the latest BIOS and the other has a 2022 revision. Not the latest but haven't checked which. At this point I will keep the 5600G in until a solution becomes apparent.

Update: no luck after setting stock BIOS. Tried cold starting and now it runs without boot looping but won't display anything. Can't tell if front header is working either... hmm. Ordered a replacement 5700G. If that doesn't work it's definitely beyond me. Will create a new thread if problems persist, but will also update here.

Possibly the problem is with the vega 8 graphics not recognized.
Try CMOS reset
Follow the steps below to reset computer CMOS data.
1. Turn off the computer. |
if no beep or message then do a hard reset
Hard Reset - Diagnostics
Turn on the computer by holding the power button down for 20 full seconds then release. Press the Power button one more time (if necessary) to start the computer. You may need to get into the BIOS and set the correct date and time. |
