Good morning.
I have an HP Victus 15L and the BIOS is for a 2024 AMD Ryzen 5 5600G processor, and the speakers aren't working. I checked and it says the audio drivers are installed and working fine, but I can't hear anything. I use an external speaker for my classes and music. If anyone could help me, I'd be incredibly grateful. I have Windows 11 installed.

@VICTUS15L, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Let's try to get your audio working again on your HP Victus 15L with a Ryzen 5 5600G and Windows 11. If the drivers appear to be installed and working fine but there's still no sound from your external speakers, here’s a step-by-step checklist to troubleshoot:
Check Playback Device Settings
- Right-click the 🔊 sound icon in the taskbar.
- Select "Sound settings" or "Open Sound settings".
- Under “Output”, make sure your external speaker (e.g., Realtek/High Definition Audio Device/Your speaker name) is selected.
- Click “Test” – do you hear anything?
Try Plugging/Replugging the External Speaker
- Remove the speaker plug (usually 3.5mm or USB) and plug it back in.
- Try a different audio port, if available.
- If it’s a USB speaker, try a different USB port.
Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Click “Run” next to Playing Audio.
- Follow the on-screen steps and select the correct output device.
Reinstall Audio Drivers
Even if they seem installed, they could be glitched:
- Press Win + X > Device Manager.
- Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
- Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek, AMD Audio, etc.) > Uninstall device.
- Check the box for “Delete the driver software for this device”, then click Uninstall.
- Restart your PC — Windows will attempt to reinstall the audio drivers automatically.
- If it doesn’t, you can download them from HP:
- Go to the HP Support page > Enter your Victus 15L model number > Download the latest audio driver under Driver-Audio.
Check BIOS & Chipset
Sometimes, especially after BIOS updates, sound issues can happen:
- Make sure the BIOS version is the latest from HP support site.
- Also update the AMD chipset drivers, especially since your processor is a Ryzen APU — chipset drivers can impact audio performance.
Test with Other Devices
- Try your external speaker on another laptop or phone. If it doesn’t work there either, the speaker might be faulty.
- Try headphones or a different speaker on your Victus 15L — do they work?
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
