New computer arrived today. My model did not ship with a video card. I have tried the advice on the HP Support about disabling the HP lockout in the BIOS and enabled the Legacy BIOS option. I have installed two known good cards but the computer does not boot to them, or should I say boots to a black screen. The computer works with the new card installed but the monitor hooked up to the onboard HDMI plug. If I move the cable to the new card, I get a No Signal Detected. Device Manager does not detect the video card. I have tried to install the nVidea drivers but the install returns the error that no supported hardware is detected.
I am trying to install the EVGA Geforce GTX 1050 2GB PN: 02G-P4-6150-KR

This is the author of the request. As Rosanne Rosannadanna said "NEVER MIND!"
While working in the BIOS I disabled the PCI-E 16 slot, thinking I was enabling it.
Reversed that seting, shut down, connected the new card to the monitor, started and the adapter is working. Installed new nVidia drivers, restarted and I'm on my way.

@easyrdr47, welcome to the forum.
I have recommended that card to many members on the Forums with great success in different HP computers. I reviewed the specs of the computer and the card and can't see any reason why it won't work. The only caveat that I have is, some members have reported that it required a 400W PSU. Yours is only 310W. I suggest that you contact EVGA's Tech Support to see if they can walk you through the installation. This will assure that nothing is being overlooked. They are the experts on their products.

The following machine has external video card installed (NVIDIA GeForce GT 730)

Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed that means your machine does not know new card. System should disable integrated video automatically but somehow not.
Given you installed new card properly with right BIOS setup and cables at the right place. Please
(1) Install proper drivers for the GTX 1050,
(2) manually disable integrated video card.
a. Click on Start, and then click on Run.
b. Type “devmgmt.msc” without quotes, and then click OK. Device Manager opens.
- Expand Display Adapters.
- Check if you are able to see both the graphics card.
- You may right click on the Intel HD graphics card and click on Disable.
Hope this help.
Regards.

Hi!
Was wondering if you could give a report about how you computer is running? Any problems with the limited PSU so far?
Also how is the setup handeling the extra heat from the GPU?
I am planning to buy similar card with 4 GB to a similar model, but mine came with SSD M.2 and ryzen 5 CPU. Also upgrading to 16 GB ram and a second SSD 2,5" and maybe an extra fan or two. I just don't know if the PSU will keep up.
I know this thread is old, but I would appriciate it very much if you see this post, and take the time to answer.
Best regards
