Hi all
I have the following product
https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c02878333
HPE-1040. She may be somewhat old, but she is still powerful and works fantastic. :))
The video card presently in it is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550Ti
And the MB is a HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Motherboard Specifications, IPISB-CH2 (Chicago)
All the details of the system can be seen on the link I added just above. The system is presently runnning Windows 10
My question is can I install a EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SSC GAMING ACX 3.0, 4GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) (04G-P4-6255-KR) on this MB. When I ask "can I install it" I don't mean will it physically fit in. It appears to be physically compatible, however I would like to know if they are "logically" compatible meaning, will this card work on this MB? Also, is there any risk I blow the card or MB by just testing it out? No I don't mean risk in sense of static shock; I mean as far compatible/incompatible.
Any help would be appreciated. I would ask that people not reply speculative responses as speculation does not help. Definite solutions are appreciated.
Thank you all
Alain

Hi, Alain:
Unfortunately, that would not be possible.
The reason the GTX 1050 won't work is because your PC needs to have a BIOS family 8.xx or newer, and your PC's BIOS family only goes up to 7.12.
With AMD cards, I don't believe you can go beyond the HD 6xxx series with your PC, and with nVidia cards you can't go beyond the GT 6xx series.
