HP Pavilion 590-p0066
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I installed a Yeston RX550 graphics card into a HP590-p0066 with no problems.  There was a Windows Update and the screen went Black.  I tried reinstalling without success. I tried using the DDU without any success. The card fan runs so there is power.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi @RD-23

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your video.

I suggest removing the video card to see if your PC will boot to Windows.  If you can boot to Windows you know that your motherboard is ok.

If you have a different  video card you can install that one to verify that the PCIe x16 slot is ok.

You can  also go to Windows update and remove that update.  Pause Windows updates.  Once that is done you can reinstall your new video card to ensure that the card has not failed. It shouldn't need a basic driver. Windows will take care of that.

I would not have purchased a no-name video, but that is just my own preference. Request an RMA from the vendor or a refund. I suggest that you purchase a mainstream video card brand.  I see in the Amazon ad it is eligible for refund within 30 days of purchase.

You could also purchase a certified refurbished mainstream video card to get a good price and more bang for your $$.

By the way, using acronyms and expecting someone to recognize them without context is really not such a good plan.

What is a DDU?

You tried reinstalling what?

@erico,

The OP referred to a most useful freeware utility program called Display Driver Uninstaller ("DDU") as seen here, to wipe out every graphics driver on his desktop, in order to be able to start with a clean slate.

Kind Regards,
