What is the nominal/required voltage of the HP 180 W Gold efficiency power supply in my HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-0020? Is it AC 120/230 V (50/60 Hz)? I bought the HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-0020 in the US and need to take it to Germany where the voltage is not 110V but 220V. Unfortunately, the product specifications only mention the power supply type (180 W Gold efficiency power supply), not the supported voltage.

Take a look at the rear of the PC to see if there is  a slide switch that shows 100-->230.

Most HP PSU products are multi voltage switchable.

I just checked and see that your PC's PSU is switchable to 230VAC.

Switch it to 230VAC first  and use a power cable  with a plug  that is appropriate to Germany before plugging it into household power.

If you are knowledgeable about electricity, just go to a hardware store, purchase an outlet plug, remove yours and replace it with the purchased German item. That was my method when I lived in the Netherlands.

Otherwise, you can find an original HP cable for a few Euros at a second hand store easily. Take the cable that your PC  came with it to match the part that plugs into your TE01 PC.

It will work

Hi Erico, thanks for your reply.

My HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-0020 doesn’t have a slide switch to change the voltage. If I understand you correctly, the HP 180 W Gold efficiency power supply in my PC does have a switch on it that would allow me to change the voltage? Just checking before I open the computer to take a look at the PSU 😉

There will be a label on the PSU which will show the voltage range that it is compatible with.

I do expect you will see 105-230 VAC and 50/60Hz.

I just verified it. The label says 100-240 VAC and 50-60Hz.

All you need is a cable that matches the home or office power outlet for your country.

Hi Erico,

Thanks a lot for your help!! I opened my PC and checked the label on the PSU, it says 100-240V~, 50-60Hz, 2.3A. 👍

And just why would you not mark my suggestion to do that the answer instead  of your own post.

Hi Erico,

I'm totally new to this forum and didn't even realize that I marked my own post instead of your solution. Can I revert this and if so, how?

HP Recommended

No worries.

You can mark it as not the  accepted solution in the same way that you marked it as the solution.

Yourself , the HP Administrators and Moderators are the only ones that have that capability.

Hi Erico,

Thanks. I suppose a HP Administrator or Moderator already took care of this because I saw that your first reply is now marked with a green “Accepted Solution” label.

I really appreciate your help! 😊
