HP Slimline desk top
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Around 2013 I purchased an HP Slimline desk top PC which has served me well over the years. But the time has come to upgrade! Can anyone tell me what they would consider to be a good, mid-range upgrade machine?

My machine is used mostly for work-related stuff using Microsoft Office products. I do also use it for graphics, music notation, and watching movies, videos, etc. I am NOT a "gamer" at all, so I don't need a machine that is lightning fast for that purpose...although I do like speed.

Thanks for you input!

@Strydoma,

Back in August this was discussed.

Your old computer is circa 2011. That will prohibit modern  graphic cards.  The low powered PSU (220W) also prohibits what would the top end GPU, the GTX 660.  (Try to find that nowadays !!!).  The chipset PCIEx16 is ver 1.1, so that is very slow and has some problems with even the ver 2.0 cards.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Thanks so much for your response.  You asked me for my machine's information, so here it is:

HP Pavilion Slimline Series

Model s5-1020

Intel Pentium Processor E6800

4GB DDR3 system memory.

So, if I wanted a new machine and one that was a step up from my old machine, what sort of specs would I be looking at?

Thanks so much for your help. It is much appreciated.
