Hello everyone. I would like to upgrade my HP desktop PC (OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop PC GT16-0000i (9X6A4AV) motherboard with ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E or ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero. Can someone explain me the advantages and disadvantages or recommend me a better motherboard. I want to upgrade because the HP original motherboard gives me very little chance to upgrade my system with storage or extra usb connections. I assume my windows key is embedded in the bios, so will I lose this windows key if I change the motherboard?

Yes, I do have an upgraded HP motherboard option available for your OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop PC GT16-0xxx (other than the "WildheartOC motherboard" with SSID: 8CF3 which I know nothing about) the ArcticOC Z790 motherboard (SSID: 8A96) with p/n: N27486-601, seen here compared with your ArcticS motherboard:
As you can see, the ArcticOC motherboard is dressed up a bit with (mostly decorative) VRAM heatsinks and such, but unlike the basic ArcticS motherboard ("Up to 65 W" processors), at least it is officially specced for 14th gen Intel Core processors "Up to 125 W", which includes the i9-14900K / i9-14900KF -and perhaps likely even the i9-14900KS, which sports a 150-watt TDP and an eyewatering "Maximum Turbo Power" draw of 253-watt, but I am not 100% clear on that right now.

In short, the high-end Asus motherboards you specified have superior overclocking and optimization capabilities compared with either the HP ArcticS (SSID: 8CF1) or the WildheartOC (SSID: 8CF3) motherboards typically mounted in an OMEN by HP 35L Gaming Desktop PC GT16-0xxx system.
The problem is that either Asus motherboards may not be a 'fit' inside an OMEN 35L case as the aforementioned HP OMEN motherboards have different mounting holes to secure it in the OMEN case:
And yes, if you were to switch to an Asus motherboard, you'll have to purchase a new Windows 11 Pro license.

Yes you are totally right I just checked dimensions, unfortunately both Asus motherboards are 30.5cmx24.4cm and 24x24 cm. I dont think 6 cm differentce will fit in 35L case. Any other motherboard suggestion ?
