Product: HP 280 G3 Base Model Small Form Factor PC

Want to upgrade the Storage with Samsung NVMe 990 pro m.2 SSD - 1TB.

Dekstop Model: HP 280 G3 Base Model SFF PC

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU

RAM: 32 GB

Mother Board: HP 843F

I see a slot - M.2 2280/2230 (for storage) is available.

Samsung NVMe 990 pro - form factor is M.2 2280.

So, I want to make sure before buying the Samsung NVMe 990 pro SSD, that my Desktop will support it or not.

Hi:

 

The PC should support the drive but according to the Intel specs on the chipset being PCIe 3.0, the Samsung 990 Pro will not run anywhere near its maximum advertised read/write speeds.

 

Intel H370 Chipset Product Specifications

 

The best read speed you will get from it would be around 3,500 MBPS.

 

The HP specifications for the model series indicate that only PCie Gen 3.0 SSD's were offered.
