We have purchased HP laptop from Amazon on 01-May-2020. As per documents received from Seller, Laptop have a warranty period of one year from Seller. However, on verification of Serial Number on HP Website, we find that laptop’s warranty is ending on 28-June-2020 (i.e. after 2 months).  

Please advise on following :

  • Why we are given different warranties by seller (for 1 year) and HP (for 2 months)
  • We are given option to renew laptop warranty with Seller and HP. Who shall we choose for renewal?

The computer probably sat on the shelf for a while before it was sold.

The Warranty from HP can be adjusted by HP.

 

Warranty Check

 

       NOTE:  If the single-system-check fails to find your device, use the "multiple devices" method to

check single or multiple devices.

 

  • If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page or at the bottom (click Flag)
  • Scroll down > To the right of Check multiple warranties, Click Continue
  • Enter the Serial Number and Country for one or more devices / systems to be checked
  • Check the box to verify you are "Not a robot"
  • Click Submit (at bottom of list entries)
  • When the page opens, Click View Details

 

NOTE: The online database results do not impact the actual contract.

  • If necessary, select your Region / Country:  Scroll to bottom of page and click the Flag

Basic Hardware Warranty (that comes with the computer from HP) covers certain hardware issues as defined in the standard contract.

 

HP Limited Warranty Statements (General Information)

Standard Warranty, that is, the warranty included with the device, typically covers hardware as explained in the Warranty document.  Optional Care Pack warranties differ by contract.

 

Depending on the product, HP offers HP Care Pack Contracts - these are generally worth checking since the coverage might differ substantially from the free "comes with computer" warranty.
