I am getting a whole house surge protector, but the electric company suggested a strip surge protector as extra protection for the computer. The problem is that strips come in different watt sizes and I can't find info on the watts used by the HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2165z in the specifications. Can someone let me know how much the desktop will use so I know what strip to buy? And yes, I do have a UPS, but it's dying, which is why I'm switching to the whole house plus strip surge protection.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Your HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2165z PC (20W71AA) is fitted with a 310-watt power supply (see: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=20W71AA), therefore, something like this surge protector purchase example would suffice: Amazon.com: SUPERDANNY 6-Outlet Surge Protector Power Strip, 4.5 Ft Extension Cord, 900 Joules, Over....
However. I would strongly recommend to keep using an uninterruptable power supply (UPS), as a UPS not only functions as a surge protector but it will also avoid your desktop to abruptly power down -crash, actually, in case of a black-out, or even a brown-out.
Here is another purchase example (do your own research) to protect your valuable property: Amazon.com: Vertiv Liebert PST5 660VA 400W UPS with Battery Backup & Surge Protection, Eight outlets....
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
