All my cables are attached to the hard drive and monitor. But the screen says check video cables. What so I do?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

When you have a display problem like this, it can be any combination of the following:
1) Monitor failing
2) Video cable shorting
3) Graphics chip in the PC failing

To check 1) you need to connect the monitor to a different PC and see if the problem remains. If it is still there, and the monitor is under warranty, you need to contact HP to see about getting it replaced or repaired.

To check 2), you need to use a different cable to see if the problem remains.  If it is still there, you need to replace the cable.

To check 3), you need to try a different monitor with this PC.  If the problem appears on the new monitor, then the video chip is failing and that needs to be replaced.  If the cable is connected to the motherboard, that means it is bad and replacing that is expensive.  If the cable is connected to a plugin card, that card needs to be replaced.

Sorry, but we have no way of diagnosing or repairing your PC from here.
