I just bought the computer and it is being shipped as I write this. I just want to know what options for upgrading I have. Thank you for your help. This computer is for general home use, some gaming, and some school online work (video conferencing, excel, word, web surfing, etc...) Thanks!

Hi:
Unfortunately, I would have no idea how the memory comes configured in that model.
It could have come with 1 x 8 GB of memory or 2 x 4 GB of memory.
I suggest that you run the free Crucial memory scan tool and see what it reports.
It should tell you what size memory is installed in each slot, and what the maximum memory capacity is.

My answer is different according to what I read on the link that banhien posted.
To quote...
Dual channel memory architecture
- Two DDR3L SODIMM (204-pin) sockets
- Supports PC3L-12800 (DDR3L-1600)
- Supports 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB DDR3L SODIMMs
So, something is not correct according to the specs.
Either the motherboard only has 2 memory slots, and each slot cannot exceed 4 GB of memory, or it only has one memory slot and it is already at the max, or it has two memory slots and can take 16 GB of memory, and the 8 GB total memory limit that HP listed is incorrect.
The crucial system scanner should sort that all out for you.

The following link shows its specs:
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05538145
- CPU: The specs says: "Supports the Intel Pentium J4205 (Apollo Lake) Quad Core and Intel Celeron J3355 (Apollo Lake) Dual Core processors only." therefore upgrading CPU is out.
- RAM: The specs also says" Supports up to 8 GB (unbuffered) on 64-bit computers", it already has 8GB therefore upgrading RAM is also out.
- Video: It does not have any slot for video card therefore upgrading video is also out.
- M.2 SSD: One thing you may be able to upgrade: it has One M.2 socket 3, key M, you can put M.2 SSD on this slot.
Regards.

Hi, @chris1111111111
If you look at the motherboard and memory upgrade specs, there are two memory slots.
HP states that each slot can support a 2, 4 or 8 GB memory module.
So, I would have to conclude that the PC can be upgraded to 16 GB of memory.

So I understand there are two memory slots. Are they both currently occupied by a 4 GB memory stick? So, would I need to buy 2 separate 8 GB memory sticks to make it 16 GB total? Also your answer was different than another "HP Expert Volunteer"... Thank you!

Thanks! I will have to see how well the computer works once we have it. I have a feeling it will likely be good for what we will need. I was just looking at my options-and I've recently become interested in computers and am probably a bit of a geek lol. Thanks for the advice...
