I tried to replace a failing internal hard drive - Seagate ST1000DM003 - with a Seagate Constellation ES.3 (both 1TB drives). The new drive (ES.3) had a slightly different connector so the pins could not be locked in. Is there a list of compatible internal hard drives for the HP Pavilion 23 All in One desk top computer.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hello
I do not know this type of hard disk, but it is indicated that it is a server disk, maybe this is the cause!
Server hard drive 3.5 "
Capacity: 2 TB
Interface: SAS 2.0 6Gb / s
the original disk is a "classic" hard disk
Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda Internal hard drive 3.5 "SATA III 7200 rpm 1 TB
So you should be able to install almost any type of disk corresponding to this same model
Why not even try an SSD drive it should be able to work too

A standard SATA connector is 2 plugs, a 15 and 7 pin arrangement as shown has a 2.5" laptop and 3.5" drive.

When a 3.5 " SATA drive is used in the AIO models, it will incorporate a fully enclosed hard drive caddy. This caddy has 1 screw on the rear. After removing this screw, the caddy is pulled rearward to disengage the assembly. The use of a 2.5" drive, whether mechanical or SSD does present a unique mounting situation. I will use an SSD as the example.
1) The SSD is plugged into the motherborad socket.
2) Hard drive caddy is carefully slid into place.
3) Using thin flat washer that exceeds the punched holes on the caddy, 2.5" hard drive screws (maybe 2) would secure the drive. The trick is the keep the SSD plugged into the motherboard as you apply the screws.
