HP Desktop 460-p274
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I ran the HP diags from the boot menu  and got the following Failure ID on HDD test:

RK585R-9R5APQ-GXGJ3F-60U403

What is that error for? Do I need to replace the HDD?

I can boot up the desktop and use it just fine.

Hi:

Below is the failure report generated by the code you posted, minus your PC's serial number.

ailure Information
Failure ID Tag Checksum HP Serial Number Test Date Failure Code Device Includes Error Message
RK585R-9R5APQ-GXGJ3F-60U403OK00000000009/5/21303StorageFloppy Drive, Hard Drive, Memory Drive, Optical Drive, SCSI, Tape DriveHard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure

Normally you would have to replace the hard drive with such a report, but since it is still working, I guess you can use it until you can't.

I do suggest that you do regular backups of your files because one day you will turn on the PC and it won't go into Windows.

Thank You so much for the quick response.

I will replace the HDD, I was thinking of switching to an SSD before installing Windows 11 this fall.

You're very welcome.

An excellent idea.

A SSD provides considerably better performance than a mechanical hard drive.
