Can I also use corsair CMPSU-650TXV2 to power my gpu? Or should I got with the extra 100watts or do I not need it

HP Recommended

@Foavic,

I am confused.  When I asked you in my previous message if you got a secondary power supply, you said no: "I'm waiting for my mom to buy it."

But wait. Now you're saying you got a Corsair CMPSU-650TXV2?

Are we communicating on the same wavelength?

Anyway, yes, this Corsair PSU will work just fine.

Kind Regards,

No I wasn’t saying I have it but if I don’t need the extra watts theirs no point in getting it right?

@Foavic,

A Corsair 650 watt ATX PSU is sufficient to power a GTX 1080, and is equipped with two 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors which you'll need, as the GTX 1080 needs one or two 8-pin or 6+2 pin PCIe connectors depending on the GPU brand.

Can I use this instead of the sata connector?

HP Recommended

@Foavic,

Yes, you can -it depends of course what ATX 24-pin power supply adapter you have.  If you ordered one with the SATA 15-pin male connector as I recommended, you need to plug in a SATA female connector extension cable and connect that to a primary PSU power point inside your PC which is as I explained most conveniently a 15-pin SATA power connection.  I'm not sure if your motherboard provides a 4-pin MOLEX power connection.

If you ordered the ATX 24-pin power supply converter with a MOLEX 4-pin male connector, you must connect it to a MOLEX 4-pin female connector extension cable and connect that to a primary PSU power point inside your PC -again, most conveniently using a 15-pin SATA power connection.

Why don't you stick with the solution I provided earlier?  -It would be easier if you wouldn't move the goalposts, so to speak.

Kind Regards,

@Foavic,

All right!  -I can hear the drum roll from here!

Let me know when all the parts are in, take a picture of them so I can 'see' what we have, and we go from there.
