The SSD can only write and save data so many times and the wear indicator lets you know how much useful percentage of the SSD you have left before it needs to be replaced.

 

What does wear leveling count mean on SSD? - Darwin's Data

 

I'm assuming that you have 95% useful life of the drive remaining if the wear level is at 5%.
