HP Slim Desktop - S01-pF1013w
Microsoft Windows 11

I have added memory to computers before, and I know this is a dumb question....but where are my memory slots? I have a HP Slim Desktop SO1 pf1013w, I opened it up and there was not two memory slots in view.  There was an empty slot with a very small empty slot next to it.

Thank you for your help.

Something's not right I found this motherboard, BakerMS, on eBay but it shows two large slots for ram.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/304175636557

on the other hand if I look up the specs for your system it lists the smaller SODIMM sockets

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06678632

can you provide the product number for your system?  here's a guide for finding it

can you post a picture?

Thank you for replying, I appreciate it.

Sorry the one picture has a shadow.  But on the second one where I cropped it, there's the long slot, then the smaller one. Both are empty. I know they're slots for something, and everything I looked up on my computer on HP site says two memory slots.  I've had this computer for 6-7 years, never had a reason to look into it.

Thanks again for your help.

Those are the PCIe slots for expansion boards.

Unaccountable, the number you listed starting with 00325 is not recognized as a product ID

In comparing your photo with one from eBay same (supposedly) model BakerMS there is something that does not match

I do not see the edge of the pair of memory slots and in addition your photo shows a connector where the memory slots should be.

Our expert here @Prométhée can pull product IDs out of thin air, maybe he can determine what motherboard you have.

hi @KW35  @BeemerBiker

not search @BeemerBiker  but this number does not identify a model here
If this is the computer mentioned, original, never modified, it must be this one.

Indeed, we indicate here the pci slots
Memory modules are easily identifiable
So I think you can't see them directly, and probably the opposite of those pci ports

this match ?

I found them. Now I have a bigger problem. From a video I watched it showed I could add the 8 ram with the 4, just change slots. I did that, the computer beeped. So I went back in and took out the 4, computer does nothing. Go back in and out the 4 back in, computer still does nothing.

What have I done wrong? I've never had this problem before.

Thank you again.

hi

Sorry, I don't see the connection with the change of slot, in case of adding a module!
the memory module is compatible or not
then I did not understand everything, if in the end it works well again with the original one only?
In case of addition , it may happen that the module is not compatible with the original one
so confirm or not
original module, in the original slot, on its own, does it work or not?
The added module, does it work or not, on its own, in the original slot or was the 4 go?
If the new module does not work in slot one or two, defective or incompatible
If it works but not with the original one, incompatibility between the two
Neither of them works, hopefully something hasn't been damaged during handling..
