HP Z1 Entry Tower G5

Hi, I want to fit 2 new internal 2.5 inch SSD drives to my existing workstation, but can't find where to purchase a suitable drive tray/caddy kit in the UK.

Any help would be appreciated

Many thanks.

If you use your HP Z1 G5 Workstation's serial number in the search box for the HPE PartSurfer you should be able to find the HP part number information for the drive caddy. I cannot guarantee that the part number will be available.

Once you have the HP part number, you can use it as a keyword in your preferred search engine to find an online vendor in the UK.

As an alternative, you could use a PCI  x4   NVMe m.2 adapter and a pair of NVMe M.2 SSD drives to give yourself greater storage options.

A PCI x4 NVMe M.2 SSD adapter will fit right in the unused PCIe x16 slot in the motherboard of your workstation.

Using the PCI x4  NVMe M.2 SSD adapter option will be far less problematic than acquiring a drive caddy.

Hi Erico, many thanks for your response.

I tried your suggestion at HP Partsurfer. Tried the serial number, no information was found. I also tried the product number of the Workstation, but again no information was found. I even tried the description but no info.

Thanks for your suggestion to use a PCI x4 NVMe M.2 SSD but I already have 2 fitted, 1TB C drive and a second 1TB in the secondary slot'

Any additional suggestions would be most welcome.

Many thanks

Hi Erico,

I already have 4 external ssds connected via USB3.

I want to install 2 of them inside the tower, and connect directly to the sata sockets on the motherboard.

This will give me much faster access time when running my photoshop software.

Many thanks for your earlier suggestion.
