Hi,
I need some advice where to install the m.2 NVME SSD 2TB on the motherboard? I do see SSD2 m.2 connector, but there is a heatsink that seem to be blocking it. Any helpful advice is most appreciated.
The maintenance and support manual is not clear at all, though i see m2. nvme 2TB is in the supported HDD list.
Regards,
Benjamin

Hi Paul,
Thanks very much for sharing the video. This is most helpful indeed. Looks like I have been looking at the wrong place for the m.2 connectors when reading off the motherboard inscriptions. Do you know if the heatsinks mounting brackets are customized HP parts? Does not look like the normal ones i find in a computer parts shop.
But your video makes it crystal clear for me now. Thanks again for your help!
Regards,
Benjamin

You're very welcome, Benjamin.
It appears that heatsink is specific to that model PC.
I've never seen anything like that before.
Looking at the parts list for this 800 G9 SFF product number, the M.2 SSD heat sink is:
N02705-001 | SPS-HEATSINK FY22 M.2 SSD |
N02705-001 SPS-HEATSINK FY22 M.2 SSD | eBay
The part is on back order at HP and costs a whopping $84 USD.
HP Parts Store - HP Computer Parts - HP Printer Parts - Compaq Parts
I suppose you don't need to use a heat sink or buy a SSD that comes with a heat sink as long as you are not going to add one on top of the other.
As long as there is open air space on top of the SSD, you would probably be fine.

Thanks Paul! I agree with you that there is no need for a heatsink. I noticed the m.2 SSD placement extends out of the motherboard, hence giving even better ventilation. Weird placement, but works out well for me. The HP part price is exorbitant. Glad i dodged the need for it.
Once again, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
Cheers!
