Hi guys! I am quite on a budget, and i want to upgrade my father pc, for better gaming performance(i have 320 euros). Here are the system specs:
GPU: Geforce GT 720
CPU: intel i7-6700
RAM: 8x4 GB DDR4
Motherboard: HP 8054 KBC 05.39
Power supply: 200 watt(model and company idk)
SSD: SATO SSD 2,5 terabytes
And there is one fan cooler, idk the name and the model.
First of all, I really need your suggestions on how to upgrade the pc for 320 eur. Secondly, i wanted to ask you is the GTX 1030, GTX 1050 ti, and GTX 1650 compatible with this system? I know ill also have to get a new PSU, but still? Because i'd buy one of the three listed video cards, if they're compatible.

Hi @Kirocet,
Welcome to HP Support Community!
We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊
Based on your system specs and budget, here's a detailed breakdown to help you upgrade your HP 8054 KBC 05.39-based PC for better gaming performance.
System Compatibility & GPU Options
Your current system:
- Motherboard: HP 8054 KBC 05.39
- CPU: Intel i7-6700 (still decent for gaming)
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4 (great!)
- GPU: GeForce GT 720 (very outdated)
- PSU: 200W (needs upgrade)
- SSD: 2.5" SATA SSD (good for storage)
GPU Compatibility
Your motherboard supports PCIe x16, so the following GPUs are compatible:
- GT 1030 – Low power, entry-level. Works with low-profile systems.
- GTX 1050 Ti – Better performance, but needs a PSU upgrade.
- GTX 1650 – Best performance among the three, also works without external power in some models.
GTX 1650 Low Profile (75W TDP) is a great choice and confirmed to work with similar HP systems
Power Supply Upgrade
Your current 200W PSU is insufficient for GTX 1050 Ti or GTX 1650. You’ll need:
- Minimum: 300W–350W PSU from a reliable brand (Corsair, EVGA, Cooler Master).
- Form Factor: Check if your case uses a standard ATX PSU or a proprietary HP form factor. If it’s proprietary, you may need an adapter or a specific HP-compatible PSU.
Tip: Open the case and check PSU dimensions and connectors before buying.
