I will be needing a new PSU for my HP TE01-1020. It came with a 400w PSU, but I would like to replace it with a 500w PSU. Looking for the HP produced 500w PSU has been confusing. These have been tough to find and when found (mostly on eBay,) I'm not so sure they are legit. Where available, I have been able to seen their labeling...which varies greatly. So, I have three questions:
1. What is the model and/or part number of the HP 500w PSU that will fit my PC?
2. How can I tell if the label is a legit HP label (what should I look for?) I see some labels with HP in caps on the upper left hand corner of the label; HP, and Germany appearing on the label??? Other labels don't show any HP reference.
3. If I were to get a non-factory HP PSU (there are many out there,) any recommendations and/or suggestions what to look for, how to choose, which ones, etc?
Thanks.

Greetings @Flycaster
Welcome back to the Forum.
The 500 watt HP power supply part number compatible with your PC's case and MB is: L05757-800.
eBay has this component. You would have to look at seller ratings to choose a reputable vendor.
I have no idea how to verify if the HP branded power supplies offered for sale at eBay are knockoffs.
I would avoid non HP power supplies manufactured in China.

Yikes! It doesn't look as though I will easily find a 500 W PSU for my PC that isn't made in China. It appears that the 5757-800 has been discontinued by HP (ie, can't get from them) and that there aren't many (if any) new HP OME 5757-800s around. BTW, here's what I believe a legit label should look like (https://www.ebay.com/itm/255473263310?_trksid=p2332490.c100935.m2460)?

Greetings @Flycaster
This 500 watt HP power supply at eBay looks legit.
It is made in China.
You should avoid compatible non HP power supplies made in China.

Yeah, that's what I thought...could be legit. Anyway, the PC is with a repair person who is testing to see if the PSU is shot. He ordered the 400w PSU that came with the PC, but it won't arrive until Saturday. Since he said that it he got it just for testing why the PC wouldn't turn on and that it can be returned. I'm going to ask him if he could upgrade the PSU to the 500w one. But, to tell you the truth, I am very upset with myself in that I could have done all this myself, if only I waited until all this research was done before going to a repair shop. Oh well, it's only $.

Try this considerably lower priced ($79.99) L05757-800 via a Trusted eBay Seller: NEW Power Supply PSU 500W For Envy 795-0003UR Desktop L05757-800 | eBay.

Yeah, I certainly have checked out the non-HP 500 W PSUs on eBay, but I'm fearful that they merely may be "knockoffs" that may not function properly. Most likely, I'll be looking for a unit that has an "official" looking HP label being sold by a 99+% seller. Although, I have to admit, phony labels should be easy to make.

Based on my own, admittedly anecdotal experience, bona fide Trusted/established eBay Sellers are unlikely to sell you crap.
